Agency & Resident consultation

Agency and Resident Consultation at the AGM – 18th February 2009

Through Partners and Communities Together (PACT) panels, residents are able to meet with local neighbourhood police officers, council officers and elected members on a regular basis to raise any concerns affecting them in their community. This information is then fed back to partners through monthly tactical meetings and priorities are set.

As well as PACT, Community Safety has consulted frequently with residents to establish what they would like us to be working on and ways to spend available budget. On 14 March 2009, Community Safety Officers attended locations across Thanet to speak with residents and establish what their community priorities were.

Many surveys were also sent to homes across Thanet and there was a great response from local

people. This feedback has been used to set the priorities contained in this plan.

A full transcript of the agency consultation day can be obtained from the Thanet Community Safety Unit at 01843 577606.

At the Community Safety Annual General Meeting, which took place on 18 February 2009, all of the

partners in attendance were given the opportunity to feedback on the service and give comments or criticism, see a summary of the work that had been done over the last year and to say thank you for the support. The reality of crime in Thanet was also highlighted to eliminate any false perceptions amongst partners. Bellow are a few of the questions asked at the AGM and the scores out of ten that were given to

the Partnership:

  • Co-ordination of meetings, minutes/agenda/invites etc - 62% scored us 8 to 10
  • Relevance to Thanet, in discussion of topics - 69% scored us 8 to 10
  • Relevance of topics discussed to your role/ agency - 53% scored us 8 to 10
  • Ability to respond to issues and tackle crime - 55% scored us 8 to 10

The event gained some positive press and in all was deemed successful by all present.
