Priority 3 - Criminal damage
Damage was discussed as a key issue for residents and a large
volume crime within the strategic assessment. From the residents
consultation, graffiti eradication was a top priority and many
different approaches were discussed.
Aim
To reduce reported incidents of criminal damage, target damage
created within the night time economy and eradicate graffiti.
Objectives 2008-2011
- To reduce incidents of criminal damage (TDC Corporate
Plan)
- Reduce levels of graffiti (BVPI 199b TDC)
- Percentage of inspected streets assessed as having unacceptable
levels of graffiti (NI195 Improved street and environmental
cleanliness)
Delivery of these objectives
Reduce reported incidents of criminal damage
As directed by the tactical group through assessment delivered
by Kent Police, operations and projects will be planned by the
Community Safety Unit.
Damage in the night-time economy
Licensing teams from both the council and police will work
together with the partnership to conduct visits and review
incidents relating to late night premises, pubs and clubs.
Eradicate graffiti
The Community Safety Unit will look to dedicate resources to
tackling offenders through a mixture of enforcement and
diversionary activity.
