Other Services Offered by the Dog Wardens

Education

The Dog Wardens will happily talk to any group, society or association in Thanet about their job, responsible dog ownership or safety around dogs.

Re-homing

Stray dogs that are not claimed by an owner may be re-homed. If you are looking to re-home a dog, please contact your local kennels. Details are available on the useful numbers page.

Microchipping

This involves placing a small microchip under the dog’s skin which contains a unique number. When the dog is scanned by a vet, kennels, dog warden or anyone with an appropriate reader, the number is picked up and the owner can be traced through a national computer. It is recommended as a method of identification if your dog is lost or stolen.

Please telephone your local vet for further information and prices.

N.B. Having a dog microchipped does not eliminate the legal duty to keep a collar on a dog bearing the owner’s name and address.
