Priority 4 - Anti-social
behaviour

Aim
To robustly tackle anti-social
behaviour and improve perception and satisfaction of services. To
further improve the quality of life in communities.
Objectives 2009 - 2012
- To robustly tackle and reduce anti social behaviour. To tackle
hot spot areas by utilising resources for high visibility patrols
and environmental improvements (NI 195 – Improved street and
environmental cleanliness)
- Ensuring public satisfaction in the
Police and Council’s dealings of ASB and to improve and understand
local concerns (NI 24 – Satisfaction with the way police and local
council deal with ASB) (NI 27- Understanding of local concerns
about anti social behaviour and crime by the local council and
police and HO DSO)
- Raise awareness and understanding of
the associated background issues such as mental health, domestic
abuse and wider deprivation in relation to anti social
behaviour.
- Reduce crime and ASB where the
offenders or victims are aged 17 years and under. (NI 111 First
time entrants to the Youth Justice System and County
Agreement)
- Continue the partnership work of the
ASB unit with TDC Housing (HO DSO Helping people feel secure in
their homes and local communities)
Delivery of these objectives
Robustly tackle anti-social
behaviour:
Through the tactical group get direction as to the worse cases
of anti-social behaviour in the district and apply the toolkit
through ASB officers within the Community Safety Unit. To ensure
proactive
multi agency enforcement and the
continuation of work with the Mediation service to resolve low
level ASB
Ensure public satisfaction with the
police and councils dealings of ASB and to improve and understand
local concerns:
To liaise through PACT panels and residents groups. To also
utilise the Community Crime Fighter initiative and promote
positive
communications.
Raise awareness and understanding of
mental health, domestic abuse and wider deprivation in relation to
ASB:
Engage with support agencies to ensure
ASB practitioners are able to respond appropriately and refer to
correct agencies when necessary.
Reduce crime and ASB where the
offenders or victims are aged 17 years and under:
Work with young people who are ‘at risk’ or first time entrants
to the CJS and support parents and victims through existing
programs
and engagement with schools and youth
organisations
Continue the partnership work of the
ASB unit with TDC Housing:
To further utilise legislation to deal
with individuals or families that cause ASB.
