Priority 5 - Community
Engagement

Aim
To feed back positive partnership work
to Thanet communities through newsletters, local press and resident
meetings. To provide a variety of ways for local people to
communicate with community safety and to establish partnership
communication protocols and how they will be delivered.
Objectives 2009 – 2012
-
To establish partnership communication
protocols and how they will be delivered
-
To increase positive news stories in
the local press
-
Increase publicity and give residents
more say in deciding on community payback projects
-
To carry out joint partnership
evaluation of the levels of positive news communicated to Thanet
residents
-
Improve people’s perceptions around
issues of anti-social behaviour (NI017 perceptions of anti-social
behaviour and County Agreement)
-
Improving understanding of local
concerns (NI027 Understanding of local concerns about anti-social
behaviour and crime by the local council and police)
Delivery of these objectives
Communicating with Thanet communities: To have
regular community meetings in every ward, which are open for
everyone to attend and raise any issues or concerns to council or
police officers.
Increase awareness of the Partnership: To use
the Community Safety Partnership logo when communicating with
residents and to have a monthly Community Safety column in the
local press.
Keep communications relevant to the area: To
provide regular newsletters to every home in Thanet. This will give
information on community payback, sentences given to offenders in
that particular ward and local events and community meetings, such
as PACT panels.
Monitoring: The Communications Tactical Delivery
Group involves Press and Media Managers from all partner agencies,
who will meet regularly to ensure that positive news stories are
being communicated with a partnership approach and that perceptions
of crime are improving in Thanet.
Back: Priority 4
- Anti-social behaviour
next: Consultation
|
The strategic assessment coupled with consultation events with
partner agencies and residents have drawn together five key
priorities for the Thanet District for 2009/10.
These are in no particular order:
- Violence in the night-time
economy
- Domestic abuse
- Criminal damage
- Anti-social behaviour
- Community Engagement
