Thanet Domestic Abuse Strategy 2008-2011
1. Executive Summary
Domestic abuse is an issue that no single
agency can solve on its own. It requires a multi agency input of
shared collective expertise, knowledge and resources. The vision
being promoted within this document is therefore one of multi
agency partnership in order to tackle and reduce domestic abuse and
provide high quality and appropriate services and support for all
those involved in an abusive relationship.
The Thanet Domestic Abuse Strategy has been
developed on behalf of the Thanet Domestic Abuse Forum in
conjunction with the Thanet Community Safety Partnership and
details how domestic abuse will be tackled between 2008 and
2011. All actions have their foundation in consultation both
with service users and professionals who are engaged in this
field.
There are four priorities listed within this
document, which form the umbrella by which all actions sit beneath.
These priorities are;
- Increase awareness of both the extent and
impact of domestic abuse within the local community and across
agencies
- Improve the Safety and Support of those who
experience or who are threatened by domestic abuse
- Improve the protection and support for
children and young people affected by domestic abuse
- Make perpetrators more accountable for their
actions
The accompanying action plan details which
agencies will be responsible for progressing these priorities and
the time scale in which they are required to do so.
The Thanet Domestic Abuse Strategy 2008- 2011
will be jointly monitored by Thanet Domestic Abuse Forum and Thanet
Community Safety Partnership.
