Strategic Assessment
The East Kent Strategic Assessment for
December 2009 to March 2010 was delivered to partners in December
2008 and gave key recommendations based on analysis of Kent Police
and other key data.
The aim of this strategic assessment
is to provide an accurate picture of the current situation in
Thanet Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) District,
which forms a part of the East Kent Police BCU. It will also seek
to identify any possible changes over the next eighteen months to
support strategic decision-making.
The document has been completed as per
National Intelligence Model guidelines and with the
cooperation of key CDRP and police
personnel.
In Thanet, there are a number of key
wards that the Supporting Independence Programme report
concentrated on, as the data shows that people living in these
areas are generally more likely to experience a range of complex
and multiple disadvantages than elsewhere. This report focuses on
these wards in particular:
- Cliftonville West
- Dane Valley
- Margate Central
- Newington
- Eastcliff and Central Harbour
It is suggested that over the next
three years to focus on five areas which account for 50% of all
crime committed in Thanet which will make a substantial impact on
the quality of life for all residents. The following
recommendations were put forward for consideration, although in no
order of priority:
Effectively Tackling Crime:
- Violence Against The Person (VAP) -
Offences in Public Places or ‘Stranger Attacks’, Including night
time economy
- Domestic Abuse - Repeat Victims
- Criminal Damage (CD)
- Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) - Rowdy
Nuisance Behaviour, Protecting The Public - Roads Policing,
Speeding, Nuisance Vehicles
- Building Public Confidence/Citizen
Focus - Citizen Focus
