Priority 1 - Violence in the
night-time economy

Aim
To tackle late night disorder, provide
effective licensing and reduce all violent offences, in particular,
violence in a public place.
Objectives 2009 – 2012

To reduce violent crime (NI015 •

Kent Police and Thanet District
Council licensing officers will work together to carry out
operations and monitor licensed premises

Assault with injury crime rate)

Improve perceptions around safety in
the night-time economy (NI041 Perceptions of drunk or rowdy
behaviour as a problem and County Agreement)
Delivery of these objectives
Tackle late night disorder
The tactical group will direct
enforcement operations through Kent Police and Thanet District
Council and will look to plan preventative
initiatives through the Community Safety Unit.
Provide effective licensing
Kent Police and Thanet District Council licensing officers will
work together to ensure that this is the case.
Reduce violence offences
The tactical group will co-ordinate resources to tackle violence
offences. The group will also look to task the Community Safety
Unit with projects that will target and reduce incidents in the
worse affected areas.

Priorities

The strategic assessment coupled with consultation events with
partner agencies and residents have drawn together five key
priorities for the Thanet District for 2009/10.
These are in no particular order:

- Community Engagement
